Training on Energy and Climate Action in Hanoi

After IUC Asia project launched the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) in South East Asia in Surabaya, it followed by networking and training of GCoM targeted the Vietnam city practitioners in Hanoi on 18-19 September 2018.

There are total 14 cities participated, such as, Quang Binh City, Khan Hoa City, Ben Tre City, Hanoi City, Phan Thiet City, Than Hoa City, Ho Chi Minh City, Nam Dinh City, Can Tho City, Tuy Hoa City, Hai Phong City, Bac Ninh City, Hue City, and Ninh Binh City. The stakeholders and universities also participated in the training event including UCLG ASPAC, UN HABITAT, Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities, Asia Institute of Technology, National Economics University, FMC, and Asia Institute of City Management.

 

Mr. Bruno Angelet, EU Ambassador to Vietnam, opened the event through giving appreciation to IUC Asia for successfully initiating the activity in Vietnam. He also raised the the awareness and impact of the climate change and energy issues to societies.

The training is guided directly by European Commission Joint Research Centre (EC JRC), Ms. Silvia Rivas and Mr. Jean Francois Dallemand  sharing the EU toolbox for developing cities climate action plan.

 

Mr. Jean emphasized that the participants could gain more knowledge and understanding, particularly the European cities system in tackling the climate change issue.

In the training, each practitoner shared their city’s current initiatives and policy implementation for energy and climate change areas.
