Thailand | GCoM Asia Project in Thailand Climate Action Conference (TCAC)

Bangkok, 5-6 August 2022 | GCoM Asia, a project funded by the European Union (EU), was participating in the Thailand Climate Action Conference (TCAC) on 5-6 August 2022 in Bangkok. Representing the GCoM Asia Project were Team Leader Asih Budiati and Project Assistant Thunpicha Pinniam who worked hands-on with Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) as the technical partner to showcase the work of the EU to tackle climate impacts through GCoM Asia Project.  

From the communication materials (leaflets and banners) available in the EU’s booth, the conference participants could learn more about the GCoM Asia Project which covers 8 countries across Asia, including Thailand. As of now, there are 17 GCoM signatories from Thailand (Chiangrai, Hat Yai, Hatsiao, Hua Hin, Khonkaen, Kokkruat, Mapammarit, Nakhon Lampang, Nongsamrong, Nonthaburi, Phanatnikom, Phanomsarakham, Phichit, Phuket, Sisaket, Thungshong, Yasothon) and the Project aims to get more signatories.

In Thailand, the GCoM Asia Project supports 4 pilot cities (Mae Hia, Hua Hin, Nonthaburi, and Suphanburi) to develop Climate Action Plan (CAP) in coordination with TGO. Furthermore, the Project will also organise a national workshop for 20 Thai cities in November 2022 and January 2023.
