GCoM Asia Project: Educating and Empowering Asian Cities on Climate Finance
Following the completion and launch of Climate Action Plans, GCoM signatory cities are exploring various internal and external financing support for the implementation of their climate actions.
Under the framework of the GCoM Asia Project, UCLG ASPAC as the GCoM Southeast Asia Secretariat supported the organisation of a series of workshops on climate finance in four countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam). The project also organised a GCoM South Asia Workshop on Business Matchmaking in Kathmandu, Nepal, facilitating more than 50 one-on-one discussions between Asian cities and 11 European business representatives to provide solutions for city climate action.
The video covers a summary of GCoM workshops in South Asia (Business Matchmaking) and Southeast Asia (Climate Finance).
GCoM SEA Regional Workshop in Bangkok (30-31 March 2023)
The Climate Action Plans (CAPs) of 8 pilot cities from Indonesia (Medan, North Minahasa, Pontianak, and Tangerang) and Malaysia (Iskandar Puteri, Petaling Jaya, Putrajaya, and Segamat) were launched successfully at the GCoM Southeast Asia Regional Workshop on March 30 and 31 in Bangkok, Thailand.
GCoM SEA Mayors Testimony
Mayors from cities across Southeast Asia highlighted the importance of collective actions in fighting climate change. Together, they are committed to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future by being part of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM).

The Secretariat for the GCoM Southeast Asia held a series of webinars as the GCoM Asia Project kick-off on 17 January 2022. The webinar series also showcased best practices on climate mitigation and adaptation from various local governments in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam).
